Pastor Chip Ingram, speaking through his radio ministry, once marveled at how few books seem to have been written about the eternal Kingdom promised to believers with Jesus as its King and Lord. With that in mind, the focus of Ouro Refinado (“Refined Gold”, in Portuguese) is both the future, and eternity.
Ouro Refinado’s daily Twitter feed is dedicated to a verse-by-verse walk through the Bible book of Revelation (in Portuguese, Apocalipse) interspersed with verses regarding Jesus Christ as our eternal King, everlasting life for the Christian believer and even descriptions of the future eternal kingdom itself.
The horizon is bright for Angola, Brazil and Portugal. Angola and Brazil are economic kingpins on their continents, with Brazil having South America’s largest economy and Angola sub-Saharan/South Africa’s third largest (after Nigeria and South Africa). Portugal is currently “the” tourism destination for the rest of Europe and elsewhere. Many people hold dual Brazilian/Portuguese citizenship. Others from Portugal have initially settled in Angola for work opportunities yet stay because they so enjoy the area. Wealthy Angolans are major stakeholders if not outright owners of Portuguese companies. Still other Brazilians and Angolans retire to Portugal, all three nations linked by major airlines. An Angolan firm is in the process of laying the first transoceanic telecommunications cable across the south Atlantic, directly linking Angola and Brazil, then on to America. All three nations are looking ahead, with an eye toward building their respective futures.
Ouro Refinado works to reach people in all three countries and the Portuguese-speaking world to remind them about our eternal future. It’s nearer than any of us realize.
This ministry’s adopted Bible verse is Revelation 21:1-5:
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband; and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.’ And he who sat upon the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.'”
